Calcitonin Recombinant Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody Product Datasheet Catalog# BX50124 Clone# BP6128 Predicted Molecular Wt: 15.5kDa Purity: ProA affinity purified IgG Species Cross-reactivity: Human Form: Liquid Applications: IHC-P Swissprot ID: P01258 Background: Calcitonin (CT) is a 32 amino acid peptide synthesized by the parafollicular C cells of the thyroid. It acts through its receptors to inhibit osteoclast mediated bone resorption, decrease calcium resorption by kidney and decrease calcium absorption by intestines. The action of calcitonin is therefore to cause a reduction in serum calcium, an effect opposite to that of parathyroid hormone. The antibody is useful for the identification of calcitonin-producing C cells and is a useful aid for classification of medullary thyroid carcinoma. Subcellular location: Cytoplasm Recommended method: Heat induced epitope retrieval with Tris-EDTA buffer (pH 9.0), primary antibody incubate at RT (18°C-25°C) for 30 minutes. Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to residues in Human Calcitonin was used as an immunogen. Storage Buffer: PBS 59%, Sodium azide 0.01%, Glycerol 40%, BSA 0.05%. Storage conditions: -25°C to -18°C Storage instructions: Shipped on blue ice. Upon delivery, aliquot, and store at -25°C to -18°C. Avoid freeze / thaw cycles. Recommended Dilutions: IHC-P: 1:100-1:200 Background References: 1. Xing R etal. Int J Mol Med 38:1125-34 (2016). 2. Ramasamy SK et al. Nat Commun 7:13601 (2016).
