STAR Recombinant Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody Product Datasheet Catalog# HKZ150285 Clone# BP6262 Predicted Molecular Wt: 32kDa Purity: ProA affinity purified IgG Species Cross-reactivity: Human Form: Liquid Applications: IHC-P Swissprot ID: P49675 Background: STAR is a 32kD protein, which plays a key role in steroid hormone synthesis by enhancing the metabolism of cholesterol into pregnenolone. STAR mediates the transfer of cholesterol from the outer mitochondrial membrane to the inner mitochondrial membrane where it is cleaved to pregnenolone. STAR is mainly expressed in adrenal cortex and its source tumors. In addition, STAR is also expressed in testicular stromal cells , follicular membrane cells and luteal cells of the ovary. Deficiency disease with STAR can lead to type 1 adrenal hyperplasia (AH1). It can diagnose type 1 adrenal hyperplasia (AH1) disease.
